LVL Zero Gaming Incubator Announces First Cohort of 10 Indian Startups

India’s gaming sector is undergoing a massive transformation. For years, the region built its reputation primarily on mobile gaming and service-led outsourcing. Now, a new financial initiative is pushing local talent squarely toward original IP creation. On April 6, 2026, LVL Zero—India’s first-of-its-kind gaming incubator—officially announced the 10 startups selected for its inaugural cohort. Backed by heavyweights MIXI Global Investments, Nazara Technologies, and ChimeraVC, this program signals a massive vote of confidence in the region’s ability to produce premium, globally competitive titles. Chosen from a highly competitive pool of over 240 applicants, these developers are setting their sights on international audiences across PC, console, and mobile platforms.

The 10 Studios Leading the Charge

The selected teams represent a wide spectrum of the development cycle and structural sizes, ranging from solo creators to five-person independent studios. The inaugural roster includes Arckon Arts, Impulse Mechanics, Kalp Studio, Kyrel Games, Prescription Studios, Rudrac Games, Trojan Productions, Wrought Studio, Xigma Games, and YK Game Studio.

These teams are currently distributed across various phases of production. One studio already has a live product on the market, two are in beta or soft-launch phases, and five hold playable alpha builds or demos. The remaining teams are actively working on early-stage prototypes. This variety highlights LVL Zero’s strategy of supporting developers at multiple critical junctures of the production cycle.

Pivoting to Premium: PC and Console Take Center Stage

Historically, the Indian market has been dominated by free-to-play mobile titles. However, the LVL Zero cohort marks a deliberate pivot. Eight of the ten selected startups are actively developing games for PC and console platforms. This points to a rising ambition to deliver high-production-value experiences tailored for a global player base.

The incubator is fostering a massive variety of genres. Xigma Games is building a mid-core 4X strategy game titled Metal Haven, a genre historically known for its deep mechanics and potential competitive scene. On the narrative front, Kyrel Games is developing PHi: The Broken Strings, while Wrought Studio is pushing forward with Last Day Lockdown. YK Game Studio is turning traditional mechanics upside down with Chiklet’s Human Products, a game that reverses standard survival tropes.

Deepak MV, Head of Strategy at Nazara Technologies, highlighted the importance of this shift. “What’s exciting about this cohort is the clear shift toward original IP and global product thinking. Indian developers are increasingly moving beyond building for just the domestic market and are embracing the reality that gaming is a global, highly competitive industry. At the same time, there is a growing awareness around aligning product, market, and distribution early in the journey. Through LVL Zero, we’re enabling founders to better understand how publishers think, how markets behave, and how to position their games in a crowded global landscape. That alignment will be critical in helping these teams convert strong ideas into commercially successful products.”

The 100-Day Sprint: Funding and Structure

Getting a game from prototype to a polished, publisher-ready state is notoriously difficult. LVL Zero attempts to bridge this gap with a highly structured 100-day incubation program. Every selected startup receives an equity-free grant of USD 10,000 to fuel their immediate development needs.

The program breaks down into three distinct phases. The first 15 days, dubbed Ignition, require teams to lock in their execution goals and align with industry mentors. The subsequent Core Build phase (Days 16–70) shifts focus to sprint-based development, emphasizing product iteration and rigorous testing. Finally, the Market Readiness phase (Days 71–100) prepares the studios for publisher outreach, go-to-market planning, and investor pitches. Beyond the financial grant, participants gain access to over 28 global industry experts, publisher connections, and vital QA and playtesting support.

Krish Anurag, Managing Partner at Chimera VC and Founding Partner at LVL Zero, explained the thesis behind the incubator’s aggressive structure. “LVL Zero was built to address a structural gap in the ecosystem where access to capital, distribution, knowledge, and talent existed, but lacked integration. What we’re seeing with this inaugural cohort is a strong validation of that thesis. These founders are not just building games, they are building with a global-first mindset from day one. What stands out is their willingness to iterate, test, and push beyond traditional boundaries of the Indian gaming ecosystem. Our focus over the next 100 days is to help them sharpen that edge through structured execution, rapid learning cycles, and access to the right networks, so they can scale from promising prototypes to globally competitive products.”

Exporting Culture Through Global Design

Another distinct trend emerging from this cohort is the seamless integration of Indian culture into universally appealing formats. Studios are utilizing local mythology and settings as unique selling points rather than niche novelties. For example, Kalp Studio’s Raahi is a slice-of-life experience grounded in a 1990s Goa-inspired town, while Twin Flames heavily draws from Indian philosophy and mythology.

Tomoharu Urabe, Managing Director of Investments at MIXI Global Investments, Inc., sees this as a vital step for the region. “This cohort represents a new generation of Indian founders who are ready to think and build beyond geographical boundaries. What is particularly encouraging is the diversity of ideas and the growing emphasis on game design, storytelling, and global relevance. Programs like LVL Zero play an important role in opening up access to mentorship, markets, and global perspectives while also instilling discipline and clarity in execution. Building globally competitive games requires not just creativity, but strong teams, structured thinking, and the ability to learn quickly. We believe this cohort has the potential to take meaningful steps in that direction.”

With plans to empower over 100 startups in the next five years, the LVL Zero incubator is actively positioning itself as a core pillar of the future gaming industry. For the global gaming and esports community, keeping a close eye on these 10 studios might provide an early glimpse into the next wave of breakout international hits.
